Safety Protocol for Crossing a Picket Line

As you know, a strike is now underway with our support staff. We want to remind everyone that safety is the top priority when approaching and crossing a picket line. Please review the following guidelines carefully:

Safety Comes First

•    Walking is the safest way to cross.
•    If you must drive, go very slowly, carefully, and watchfully.

If Driving Onto Campus

•    Stop at entrance – wait until safe to enter.
•    Obey all traffic signs and signals.
•    Pedestrians always have the right of way.
•    Enter slowly, steadily, and cautiously.

While Crossing

•    Stay calm and polite.
•    Expect possible delays as picketers share information.
•    Don’t take comments personally.
•    Avoid confrontation – do not provoke incidents.

Respect & Patience

•    Support staff have a legal right to strike and picket.

Your respect and cooperation keep everyone safe.
Thank you for helping us maintain a safe, calm, and respectful campus environment.
